Flesh: A Blended Family

It all started when my Dad met Ruthie, my stepmom. He is Dominican, she is Jewish-American. I was 9 years old and my little brother was 2 years. Ruthie practically adopted us, had no question on being a huge force in our young lives. They got married and had my half-sister, Sofia.

My Mom met Cato, my stepdad, when I was 12. They are both Peruvian. I came home from school and they surprised me with a shot gun city hall matrimony. They had my half-sister, Andrea.

All four of my parents come from large families and that is what this story is about.

The blending of these communities of different beliefs and cultures, all mixed into our daily lives of survival in this world of the 21st century.

I introduce you to my blended family…..
